A well-balanced attack led Phillipsburg over the Blue Streaks in every quarter on their way to victory on Saturday. Phillipsburg took down the Blue Streaks 64-50. Given Phillipsburg's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while the Blue Streaks are ranked 174th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Phillipsburg's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Andrew Martin, who scored 28 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Scerbo jr., who scored 17 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Bridgewater-Raritan was fully in charge on Saturday, breezing past the 71-31 on the road. That 40 point margin sets a new team best for Bridgewater-Raritan this season.
Phillipsburg's victory bumped their record up to 18-1. As for Bridgewater-Raritan, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-13.
Phillipsburg didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against the Panthers when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 52-47 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Phillipsburg since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
