Green Hope and Wake Forest are an even 3-3 against one another since December of 2014, but not for long. The Green Hope Falcons will be playing at home against the Wake Forest Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Green Hope's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a hard 62-43 fall against Broughton.
Despite their defeat, Green Hope saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Rafik Khismatov, who scored 6 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals, was perhaps the best of all. Khismatov is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nikhil Ranga, who scored 8 points.
Meanwhile, Wake Forest pushed their score all the way to 58 last Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 65-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of East Wake.
Despite the defeat, Wake Forest saw an underclassman step up: Palmer Chase dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Caleb Lashley was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 6 rebounds.
The losses dropped Green Hope to 0-3 and Broughton to 1-2.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Green Hope have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 25.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Wake Forest struggles in that department as they've been even better at 39 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
