The Huntington Park Spartans pushed their score all the way to 55 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 63-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Downtown Magnets. Huntington Park was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Downtown Magnets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Downtown Magnets' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ethan Train, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds. Those 15 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Yuri Hernandez, who scored 20 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Huntington Park and nudges their season record down to 8-7. As for Downtown Magnets, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-8.
Huntington Park and Math & Science College Preparatory will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
