An epic 95-75 battle between a pair of Arizona teams provided three national stat stars this week, but it wasn't the only game that provided a pair of outstanding efforts.
Higley (Gilbert, Ariz.) defeated Apache Junction (Ariz.) with Higley quarterback Mason Crossland throwing for a national-best 641 yards and a state-record nine touchdowns, while his Apache Junction counterpart Adam Abbatacola had the second-highest total of the week with 565 yards. Receiver Trent Gilbert of Higley also had one of the top yardage totals of the week with 10 catches for 239 yards and four touchdowns.
In a 39-34 win over Jefferson (Tampa, Fla.), Lennard (Ruskin) receiver Diontae Johnson had six catches for 246 yards and three touchdowns. Meanwhile, Jefferson quarterback Cade Weldon threw for 415 yards in the loss.
Marcus Lester of Chavez Academy (Detroit) threw over 70 attempts for the third time this season, as he completed 28 of 73 passes for 432 yards in a 56-30 loss to Mayville. Lester has the top two passing attempts marks for a single game in Michigan state history. He had 75 attempts in a game earlier this year.
