The Westhope/Newburg Sioux's 11-game losing streak came to an end on Monday. They walked away with a 59-52 victory over Drake/Anamoose. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Westhope/Newburg has managed all season.
It was another big night for Kimberly Tabarez, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Tabarez is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashley Tabarez, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Westhope/Newburg's victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-11. As for Drake/Anamoose, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.
Westhope/Newburg will be playing in front of their home fans against Harvey at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. Drake/Anamoose will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Mohall/Lansford/Sherwood at 7:15 p.m. on January 26th.
