The Herron Achaeans will square off against the Pike Red Devils at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Herron has given up an average of 13.6 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Herron is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight games on Monday. They came up short against Heritage Christian, falling 24-1.
Herron saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Layla Williams, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pike). They blew past Indianapolis Shortridge 27-10 on Thursday. The Red Devils have beaten the Blue Devils the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Blue Devils has come to flipping the script.
The team relied heavily on Anabelle Posada, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two triples, and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Lili Richardson was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI.
Pike always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .878. Their OBP was a full 0 higher than the also-impressive .630 that Indianapolis Shortridge posted.
The victory got Pike back to even at 3-3. As for Herron, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Herron has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Pike struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Herron got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April of 2025 against Pike by a conclusive 17-3 score. Do the Achaeans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
