Webster County is 3-0 against Calhoun since October of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. Webster County pushed their score all the way to 36 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They had to suffer through a rough 64-36 loss at the hands of Wahama. While losing is never fun, Webster County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 91st, while Wahama is ranked 29th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Eli Amos, who rushed for 93 yards and a touchdown. Amos really tore up the turf during one magnificent 93-yard run. Rayden Triplett also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Calhoun was the victim of a tough 30-8 loss at the hands of South Harrison on Friday.
Webster County's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 16.4 points per game. As for Calhoun, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.
Webster County came out on top in a nail-biter against Calhoun in their previous meeting back in September of 2019, sneaking past 47-44. The rematch might be a little tougher for Webster County since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
