The Seligman Antelopes pushed their score all the way to 69 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 75-69 hit to the loss column at the hands of NFL Yet Academy. Seligman has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Seligman's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Montae Walker, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds, and Carmelo Manakaja who scored 28 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. Manakaja scored a full 40.6% of Seligman's points, the 16th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Leathan Beecher was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Seligman has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. As for NFL Yet Academy, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Seligman will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Ash Fork at 7:00 p.m. on January 3rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Ash Fork is ranked 280th, while Seligman is ranked 269th). As for NFL Yet Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Arizona Lutheran Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
