Make it seven blowout wins for the Amherst Broncos this season. They took their game on the road on Saturday with ease, bagging a 66-25 victory over Wilcox-Hildreth. The win was nothing new for Amherst as they're now sitting on eight straight.
Despite the loss, Wilcox-Hildreth still got an impressive performance from Sam Gruwell, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and two blocks. Gruwell hasn't dropped below two blocks for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Micah Johnson, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Amherst pushed their record up to 13-1 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Wilcox-Hildreth, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-14 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Amherst will take on Pleasanton at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Pleasanton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 217th, while Amherst is ranked sixth). As for Wilcox-Hildreth, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Silver Lake at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
