Glastonbury was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Conard 35-6. The Tomahawks came in at 15 in the state poll after placing at number 26 last week.
Glastonbury led Central Connecticut I East in scoring this week after putting up 35 points on the Chieftains.
Eric Ryan was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 65 yards on 19 carries as Newington lost to Southington. Teammate Isaiah Young added to the ground attack by rushing for 15 yards.
Ryan McDonald put up the best numbers through the air as South Windsor lost to Hall. He finished with a total of four completions for 27 yards and 13 touchdowns. McDonald's favorite target this week was Andrew Jackson, who caught one pass for 13 yards.
Morris was the best wideout in the league this week as the Indians fell to the Blue Knights. Morris tallied six receptions for 70 yards. Ryan helped Newington's passing attack out by catching four balls for 48 yards.
Newington's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Indians feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Jake Hedberg has thrown for 521 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Morris has 15 catches for 216 yards. Ryan leads the league in rushing with 153 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Manchester takes on second place Glastonbury. Last week, Manchester defeated Simsbury, while Scott Daniels's team topped Conard.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Newington takes on East Hartford. Roy Roberts's team's offense has recorded 28 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while the Hornets have permitted only 135 on the year.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Indians take on the Tomahawks. Manchester has allowed 35 points this season, while Glastonbury has given up 40. Marco Pizzoferrato's team allowed 7 points last week as it topped the Trojans.
The Indians made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,616 from 5,866. The improvement came about via a 14-7 victory over Simsbury last week.
