The Tucson High Magnet School Badgers waltzed into their match on Tuesday with five straight wins but they left with six. They strolled past Marana with points to spare, taking the game 56-37. Given Tucson High Magnet School's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while Marana is ranked 221st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Marana's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Adrian Griffin, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and three steals, and Malaysia Roebuck who scored seven points along with 15 rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Griffin has scored all season.
Tucson High Magnet School has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. As for Marana, their loss dropped their record down to 5-14.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tucson High Magnet School will square off against Rincon/University at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Rincon/University focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday. Marana on the road again on Thursday and play against Sunnyside at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. Sunnyside will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
