After a string of four wins, the Logan Longhorns's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 79-74 hit to the loss column at the hands of Melrose. Logan was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Melrose apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played last Thursday.
Logan's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hayden Bruhn, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Bruhn is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Brock Burns, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds.
Logan's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 21-3. As for Melrose, their win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-3.
Logan will take on Fort Sumner/House at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in New Mexico (Fort Sumner/House is ranked 21st, while Logan is ranked 18th). As for Melrose, they will head out on the road to face off against Grady at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
