Xavier Prep has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on The Rancho Mirage Rattlers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Last Friday, Xavier Prep came up short against Palm Springs and fell 21-14. That's two games in a row now that Xavier Prep has lost by exactly seven points.
Although Xavier Prep took the loss, they still got scores from Joseph Berry and Austin Mcdanel.
Meanwhile, Rancho Mirage had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.3 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They came out on top against La Quinta by a score of 27-14.
Jeremiah Williams got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 116 yards and three touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Rancho Mirage's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Mason Hershberger and his two sacks.
Xavier Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Rancho Mirage, their victory was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-2.
Xavier Prep strolled past Rancho Mirage when the teams last played back in October of 2022 by a score of 55-41. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Rancho Mirage's Ethan Zamora, who threw for 295 yards and four touchdowns, and also punched in two rushing scores.
