Elkhorn Valley is 2-7 against St. Francis since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Elkhorn Valley Falcons' road trip will continue as they head out to face the St. Francis Flyers at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th. Hopefully Elkhorn Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 32 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, it was a hard-fought matchup, but Elkhorn Valley had to settle for a 42-39 loss against Cedar Catholic.
Elkhorn Valley's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jj Black, who scored eight points along with 19 rebounds and four blocks, and Lily Hartl who scored ten points along with two steals. Black hasn't dropped below ten rebounds for eight straight games.
Meanwhile, St. Francis had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They secured a 49-43 W over Aquinas.
Elkhorn Valley has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-7 record this season. As for St. Francis, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a massive bump to their 13-7 record this season.
Elkhorn Valley didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against St. Francis in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 57-51 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Elkhorn Valley since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
