The Jenkintown Drakes pushed their score all the way to 61 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. The contest between them and Delaware County Christian wasn't particularly close, with Jenkintown falling 78-61. While losing is never fun, Jenkintown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 441st, while Delaware County Christian is ranked 166th).
Jenkintown's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Desmond Trail, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and two steals, and Tommy Walsh who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Trail has scored all season.
Khamai Orange continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Delaware County Christian, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 14 rebounds. Orange hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Caleb Jameson, who scored 11 points along with six assists and six steals.
Jenkintown has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-8 record this season. As for Delaware County Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jenkintown will take on Lehigh Valley Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Jenkintown focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Monday. As for Delaware County Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Valley Forge Military Academy at 5:30 p.m. Delaware County Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight contests -- so hopefully Valley Forge Military Academy likes a good challenge.
