The Granite Hills Cougars entered their tilt with the Barstow Aztecs with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Granite Hills strolled past Barstow with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 52-35. Granite Hills pushed the score to 52-27 by the end of the third, a deficit Barstow cut but never quite recovered from.
Kameron Smith was his usual excellent self, rushing for 299 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. Smith hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for seven straight games.
Granite Hills' defensive line stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Christian Long and his three sacks.
Despite the loss, Barstow still got an impressive performance from Dwayne Williams, who rushed for 131 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 carries.
Granite Hills' victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 48.3 points per game. As for Barstow, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Granite Hills will take on Salesian at 7:30 p.m. on November 3rd. Salesian is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games. As for Barstow, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd.
