3A District 5 recap October 29, 2013
Clearwater Central Catholic extended the longest winning streak in 3A District 5 this week by beating Admiral Farragut, 44-3. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
Clearwater Central Catholic took down the Bluejackets 44-3 last week, the largest margin of any game. Diquan Walker ran for 96 yards in the win.
Jeremy Wood was a passing and rushing force as Calvary Christian bested Shorecrest Prep. He completed 12 passes for 169 yards and also ran for 87 yards. Wood's key target this week was Sedale Hudson, who caught 7 passes for 89 yards.
Jack Sheehan threw for 153 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was 6-6 with 0 interceptions.
Hudson was the best wideout in the league this week as the Warriors topped the Chargers. Hudson tallied 7 receptions for 89 yards. Graham Hoffman helped Calvary Christian's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 52 yards.
On the heels of Sheehan and Tony Jones, St. Petersburg Catholic has had great success on offense. Sheehan is tops in the league in passing with 723 yards, while Jones has rushed for 799 yards this season. Tops in the league in receiving yards is John Davis' team's CJ Cotman, with 296 yards on 18 catches.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Calvary Christian takes on the Barons. Todd Yoder's team is in third place, while St. Petersburg Catholic is in second place.
Steve Dudley's team led 3A District 5 in scoring this week after putting up 49 points on Episcopal. Sheehan during the win.
