It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Eastern Comets can now relate to. They suffered a tough 59-39 loss at the hands of the Bruins on Friday. While losing is never fun, Eastern can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 338th, while the Bruins are ranked 91st).
Eastern's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jenna Odle, who scored 12 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Appleton, who scored six points.
It was another big night for Sydnee Morris, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds for Blackford. Another player making a difference was Bralee Vanskyock, who scored 12 points along with six assists and three steals.
Eastern has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-18 record this season. As for Blackford, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 19-6.
Eastern does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Blackford won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Eastbrook is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
