Basketball Recap: Douglass' Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Douglass had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.6 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They came out on top against Patterson Mill by a score of 64-57.

Douglass' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jelani Lee led the charge by going 7 for 15 on his way to 19 points. The dominant performance gave Lee a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Curtis Valentine, who posted nine points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Douglass' win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Patterson Mill, they moved to 5-1 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Douglass won't have much time to rest: their next match is against North County at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Patterson Mill, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bel Air on January 7, 2025.
