Jefferson hasn't had much luck against Burges recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Silver Foxes will venture away from home to face off against the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. Jefferson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.7 runs per game this season.
Burges will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Jefferson extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday. The Silver Foxes put the hurt on Andress with a sharp 13-2 victory. Considering the Silver Foxes have won 13 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Yazmeen De La Paz made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off ten hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Jefferson let Melanie Hennigan and Elizabella Quinonez run wild. Hennigan got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Quinonez went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most hits Quinonez has posted since back in February. Helen Osornio was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Jefferson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Andress only posted an OBP of .409.
Meanwhile, Burges came up short against Chapin on Tuesday, falling 15-5. The loss continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Huskies: they've now lost three in a row.
Antonella Ulloa made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Valeria Sanchez, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Jefferson's record is now 18-3-1. As for Burges, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-12.
Burges' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Jefferson has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12 hits per game. It's a different story for Burges, though, as they've been averaging 9.5 hits. Given Jefferson's sizable advantage in that area, the Mustangs will need to find a way to close that gap.
Jefferson suffered a grim 13-1 defeat to Burges in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Silver Foxes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
