Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Momence, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They put the hurt on Donovan with a sharp 69-44 victory on Tuesday. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 36-8.
Hoopeston better keep an eye on D'Angelo Hundley. He was instrumental in Momence's win, going 8-for-13 to rack up 20 points and three steals. Those 20 points gave Hundley a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Erick Castillo, who went 6-for-15 on his way to 13 points and four steals.
Hoopeston's loss dropped their record down to 18-12. As for Momence, their win bumped their record up to 10-16.
Keep an eye on the arc in Monday's match: Hoopeston has been dynamite from deep this season, having made 36.7% of their three-pointers per game. It's a different story for Momence, though, as they've only made 25.9% of their threes this season. Given Hoopeston's sizable advantage in that area, Momence will need to find a way to close that gap.
Hoopeston came up short against Momence when the teams last played back in December of 2019, falling 75-69. Thankfully for Hoopeston, Johnnie Williams (who went 8-for-16 en route to 26 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
