Hoosier Heartland recap October 8, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Clinton Central, who defeated 223rd ranked Carroll, 33-7.
Tri-Central's Cody Howell recorded the longest rushing play in Hoosier Heartland this season in his game against Anderson Prep Academy last week. Howell's team bested Anderson Prep Academy as he sprinted for 85 yards on the play and finished with 87 in all.
Tri-Central's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Howell threw for 97 yards and Seth Blunck had 49 yards receiving. On the ground Garrett Kelley chipped in 149 yards. Cale Hindman helped Tri-Central's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 22 yards.
Howell put up the best numbers through the air as George Gilbert's team topped Joe Kwisz's team. Howell's favorite target this week was Blunck, who caught 2 passes for 49 yards.
6-foot-1 quarterback Howell of the Trojans is the league leader in passing yards this season with 814. He has also thrown 11 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Kreed Switzer. The Carroll star has 20 catches for 397 yards.
The Bulldogs are in fifth place, while Clinton Prairie is in fourth place.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Tri-Central beat Anderson Prep Academy 52-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
