The St. Maries Lumberjacks lost against the Orofino Maniacs back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. St. Maries fell to Orofino 41-37. St. Maries has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Several Lumberjacks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tayla Janssen, who scored 11 points. Those 11 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Sami Sindt, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds.
St. Maries bumped their record down to 2-7 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.8 points per game. As for Orofino, their win ended a eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5.
St. Maries will challenge Logos at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Idaho (Logos is ranked 131st, while St. Maries is ranked 125th). As for Orofino, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Priest River at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
