The Lompoc Braves gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They escaped with a win against Pioneer Valley by the margin of a single free throw, 52-51. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Lompoc also won the last time the pair played back in February.
Despite the loss, Pioneer Valley still got an impressive performance from Inderveer Toor, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. Toor scored a full 37.3% of Pioneer Valley's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elias Giddings, who scored 13 points along with 5 rebounds.
Lompoc's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Pioneer Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.
Lompoc will be playing in front of their home fans against Cabrillo at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pioneer Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Morro Bay at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
