Baseball Recap: Huntington Wins Going Away Against Adena

Huntington came into Monday's contest having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past the Adena Warriors 8-2 on Monday. Considering the Huntsmen have won four matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Brayden Elliott spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up eight Ks. Huntington is 4-1 when Elliott allows three or fewer earned runs, but 3-5 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Seth Throckmorton, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Frankie Hirsch was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Huntington now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Adena, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Huntington will head out to face off against River Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Adena, they will face off against Paint Valley at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
