Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech has been on the road for two straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Overbrook Panthers at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Saturday, Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech was able to grind out a solid win over Norristown, taking the game 81-72. Given Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 104th, while Norristown is ranked 286th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech to victory, but perhaps none more so than Haneef Davis, who scored 19 points. Davis continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Saleem Hudson, who scored 18 points.
Meanwhile, Overbrook entered their tilt with Abraham Lincoln with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Overbrook walked away with a 59-50 win over Abraham Lincoln on Thursday.
Overbrook's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Omar Davis, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 steals. Davis is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Nasir Kelly was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech's victory bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Overbrook, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5.
Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech strolled past Overbrook in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a score of 71-57. Does Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech have another victory up their sleeve, or will Overbrook turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
