Dylan Lockwood was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Garison Jones was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Dylan Williams also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.
Bradshaw Mountain was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .513. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Salpointe Catholic came out on top against St. Mary's on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fourth inning. The Lancers narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Knights 9-8. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lancers.
Colton Raetzman and Anthony Milo did most of the damage at the plate: Raetzman got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Milo went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Aciel Guillen, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Bradshaw Mountain is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Salpointe Catholic, they pushed their record up to 22-4-1 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Bradshaw Mountain has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .440. However, it's not like Salpointe Catholic struggles in that department as they've averaged .479. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Bradshaw Mountain's way against Salpointe Catholic in their previous matchup back in May of 2023, as Bradshaw Mountain made off with a 12-2 win. Will the Bears repeat their success, or do the Lancers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
