It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Meridian Hawks ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They secured a 72-67 W over Warrensburg-Latham. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Meridian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brooks Brown out in front who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Lleyton Miller, who scored 21 points along with three steals.
Meridian has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. As for Warrensburg-Latham, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Meridian won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Maroa-Forsyth at 5:30 p.m. on January 20th. Maroa-Forsyth will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. As for Warrensburg-Latham, they will head out on the road to take on Hartsburg-Emden at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hartsburg-Emden is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
