Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Salem). The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Keaton Roberts made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Salem is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-3 otherwise. Roberts was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of his six plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Salem got a massive performance out of Lincoln Quinn, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. That double was Quinn's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Shannan Ratliff, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs.
Salem kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Amite County's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Salem, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
