The La Vernia Bears will face off against the Davenport Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with La Vernia sitting on six straight wins and Davenport on three.
La Vernia had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 42-31 victory over Boerne on Friday. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
La Vernia's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Keegan Hajek, who rushed for 49 yards and four touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Colten Schmid, who gained 170 total yards.
Meanwhile, Davenport stacked a eighth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They blew past Jones 63-28 on the road. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-14.
La Vernia's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.7 points per game. As for Davenport, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
