The Easley Green Wave won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They were the victim of a tough 52-28 loss at the hands of Westside. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Easley has scored all season.
Easley's loss came despite strong showings from Olivia Gramblin and Abbi Vite. Gramblin scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals, while Vite scored seven points. Meya Mckinney was another key contributor, scoring three points along with five assists.
Westside found their leader in underclassman Makyhia Paul, who scored 14 points along with four steals. Paul is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ahrianna Scott, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Easley has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Westside, they pushed their record up to 12-3 with that win, which was their seventh straight on the road.
Easley will challenge Greenville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (Greenville is ranked 96th, while Easley is ranked 92nd). Westside won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Butler at 3:30 p.m. on January 13th. Butler is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 54.1 points per game.
