Everything went their way against the Hancock County Indians on Friday as the Washburn Pirates made off with a 51-25 win. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 23 points or more this season.
Leading Washburn to victory were Hannah Williams and Ebany Hill. Williams dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 boards, while Hill went 8 of 20 en route to 19 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. That's the most points Williams has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylie Proffitt, who posted three points and seven steals.
Washburn's victory bumped their record up to 15-6. As for Hancock County, they are on a 24-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Washburn will challenge Claiborne at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Hancock County, they and Thomas Walker will face off at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played.
