The Hughson Huskies are taking a road trip to face off against the Gregori Jaguars at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hughson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Hughson was able to grind out a solid victory over Atwater, taking the game 7-2. The Huskies haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Kylie Tangney 2027 spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Presley Wells 2026 was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while going 3-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Peyton Moring 2028 also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Gregori beat Turlock 9-6 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Jaguars.
Gregori let Kaliyah Mauia and Angelina Hoffman run wild. Mauia went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double, while Hoffman scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Those three hits gave Mauia a new career-high. Nevah Cates was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Gregori's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Hughson, the win got them back to even at 4-4-1.
Gregori's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Hughson has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Gregori, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Hughson keep running through batters, or will Gregori buck the trend?
Hughson came up short against Gregori in their previous matchup back in March of 2022, falling 4-1. Can Hughson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
