Nanih Waiya was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in 1A Region 3. The Warriors beat Ethel 36-16 earlier in the week.
Pelahatchie extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating East Oktibbeha, 56-16. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
West Oktibbeha's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Von Smith threw for 174 and two touchdowns and Lavante Tate had 126 yards receiving. On the ground Tiberias Lampkin chipped in 238 yards. Deshun Brown helped West Oktibbeha's passing attack out by catching three balls for 30 yards.
West Oktibbeha's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Timberwolves feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Smith has thrown for 1287 yards and 20 touchdowns this season, while Tate has 22 catches for 638 yards. Lampkin leads the league in rushing with 1474 yards.
A big matchup in 1A Region 3 this week will be when Noxapater takes on Pelahatchie. The Tigers are in third place, while Bill Ward's team is in first place.
The Chiefs took down the Titans 56-16 last week, the largest margin of any game. Cortez Ousley ran for 120 yards in the win.
