This season hasn't been kind to The Hardin-Jefferson Hawks, who are still winless after their tenth game. They were dealt a 61-7 defeat at the hands of West Orange-Stark on Friday. While losing is never fun, Hardin-Jefferson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 870th, while West Orange-Stark is ranked 240th).
Hardin-Jefferson's loss was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-10. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 13-1 Silsbee and 8-2 Diboll (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 60.4% over those games). As for West Orange-Stark, their win bumped their record up to 5-5.
Hardin-Jefferson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. West Orange-Stark will take on Bellville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bellville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten contests -- so hopefully West Orange-Stark likes a good challenge.
