The Escalante Moquis's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They lost to Wayne at home by a decisive 45-30 margin. Escalante lost against Wayne in their previous head to head back in February, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 72-41 score last time.
Wayne's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Raegyn Blackburn, who scored 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of AJ Vandyke, who scored ten points.
Escalante's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Wayne, their victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2.
Escalante will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Piute at 7:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Piute is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games. Wayne will finish 2023 at home by hosting Tabiona at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
