The struggle was real when Hernando and Springstead clashed on Friday, but Hernando ultimately edged out the opposition 17-14. For Hernando, this is just revenge for the 24-31 loss they suffered against Springstead the last time they faced one another.
Hernando took a little while to warm up, but they followed up a slow three-point first quarter with 14 points in the second. Springstead countered with 6 points, leaving the score at 17-6 going into the half. Hernando almost let the game get away from them in the second half, but they had just enough oomph to take it. The victory bumped their record up to 5-2. The defeat dropped Springstead's record to 4-3.
Hernando will look to defend their home turf next week against Weeki Wachee at 7:00 PM. Weeki Wachee took a loss in their last match and are no doubt out to reverse Hernando's good fortune. As for Springstead, they will face off against Land O' Lakes. Land O' Lakes have averaged 37 points over the course of their past three games, so Springstead might be in for a challenge.
