Two dominant in Collin Hendrickson and Kyle Cosart are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Clear Creek Golddiggers will head out on the road to square off against the SkyView Academy Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Clear Creek scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They breezed by Denver Academy on the road to the tune of 91-60. The win was just what Clear Creek needed coming off of a 84-45 defeat in their prior game.
Hendrickson was his usual excellent self, shooting 4-for-6 from downtown and dropping a double-double on 35 points and 20 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Clear Creek's points. Tyler O'Brien was another key contributor, scoring 29 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, SkyView Academy had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 40.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Denver Jewish Day as SkyView Academy made off with a 59-39 victory. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 11 more assists than your opponent, as SkyView Academy did.
It was another big night for Cosart, who scored 28 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jesus Aguirre, who scored six points along with three steals.
Clear Creek is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. As for SkyView Academy, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-2.
Tuesday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy contest: Clear Creek have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 29.8 rebounds per game. It's a different story for SkyView Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 32.3 rebounds per game. Given Clear Creek's sizeable advantage in that area, SkyView Academy will need to find a way to close that gap.
Clear Creek might still be hurting after the 50-28 defeat they got from SkyView Academy in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Can Clear Creek avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
