The Davis Darts put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2023 than the 65-33 stomp they got at home against Murray. Considering Davis has won six matchups by more than 20 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Davis had a senior duo take command as Kendra Kitchen dropped a double-double on 22 points and 15 rebounds and Kate Richards scored 20 points along with three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Kitchen has scored at least 25% of Davis' points. Shea Miller was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Murray lost, one person who can't be blamed is Mia Auclaire. Despite the final result, she scored 22 points. The contest was Auclaire's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Davies, who scored two points along with eight rebounds.
Murray struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Davis' win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0. As for Murray, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Davis will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Northridge at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday. Northridge will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Utah Rankings (they are ranked 60th, while Davis is ranked third). Murray will be staying on the road on January 5, 2024 to face off against Cottonwood at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
