The Mountain Empire Redhawks will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Horizon Prep Lions at 5:30 p.m. on December 19th. Hopefully Mountain Empire focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Wednesday.
Last Wednesday, Mountain Empire beat Ocean View Christian 37-29.
Mountain Empire's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Maximo Gonzalez, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Sepulveda, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Horizon Prep's 18-6 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They were outmatched by Ocean View Christian on the road and fell 56-11. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Horizon Prep has scored all season.
Mountain Empire's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Horizon Prep, they bumped their record down to 2-8 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Mountain Empire suffered a grim 58-34 defeat to Horizon Prep when the teams last played back in January. Can Mountain Empire avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
