Montgomery is a perfect 6-0 against Piner since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Vikings will venture away from home to take on the Prospectors at 4:30 p.m. Montgomery will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
Montgomery is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Elsie Allen with a sharp 17-7 win on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Vikings have won by exactly ten runs.

Quinn Matel was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Laela Shimon was incredible, going 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Ryan Page also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Montgomery always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .689. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Piner had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They never let the Mustangs get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory. The Prospectors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by seven runs or more this season.
Cambria Weerts made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Weerts was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mialynn Membrilla, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Genavieve De Mauro was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Montgomery's record is now 5-9. As for Piner, their record now sits at 5-7.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Montgomery has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Piner struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Montgomery's way against Piner when the teams last played back in March of 2019, as Montgomery made off with a 15-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
