The Franklin County Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their eighth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Oconee County, falling 42-7. While losing is never fun, Franklin County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 373rd, while Oconee County is ranked 143rd).
Caiden Wood went supernova for Oconee County, rushing for 144 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Mac Ricks, who rushed for 74 yards and a touchdown.
Franklin County's defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-9. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 8.1 points per game. As for Oconee County, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.
Franklin County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Oconee County will look to defend their home field on November 10th against Douglas County at 7:30 p.m.
