The North Raleigh Christian Academy Knights will head out to take on the Freedom Christian Academy Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. North Raleigh Christian Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
North Raleigh Christian Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Panther Creek, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Knights have posted since May 10, 2024.
North Raleigh Christian Academy's victory was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kai Patton, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, while Freedom Christian Academy put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Fayetteville Christian. The Patriots blew past the Warriors 13-0. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won eight matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Alonzo Webster made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eli Corney, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Freedom Christian Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 9-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Graysen Stafford, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.
Freedom Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for North Raleigh Christian Academy, their record is now 10-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. North Raleigh Christian Academy hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Freedom Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs.
