Central Christian proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by three) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Lake Center Christian Tiger 3-2. The win was nothing new for the Comets as they're now sitting on five straight.
It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Central Christian got the one that really mattered. The final score came out to 25-16, 23-25, 25-16, 20-25, 15-11.
Central Christian was led to victory by Sarah Miller and Saralyn Stjernholm. Miller had 19 digs, while Stjernholm had ten digs and three aces. What's more, Stjernholm posted five assists, the most she's had since back in September of 2024.
They weren't the only good servers: Central Christian was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in five consecutive contests.
Despite the loss, Lake Center Christian still got an impressive performance from Kamden Maninga, who had 37 digs and one assist. Maninga is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 16 or more in each of the last eight games she's played. Evelyn Greetham also deserves some recognition as she had her first digs of the season.
Central Christian's victory bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Lake Center Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-5.
Central Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-1 win against Claymont on the 29th. As for Lake Center Christian, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Southeast on the 29th.
