After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Rootstown, the Badger Braves were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They took down Maplewood 61-43. That's another feather in the cap for Badger, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Badger got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Gabriella Miller out in front who scored 17 points along with four steals. Miller continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Huscroft, who scored 12 points along with six steals.
Maplewood's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Madyson Cikosh, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds. Cikosh has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Raegan Krieg, who scored ten points along with five steals.
Badger's victory was their 17th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-2. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 29.65 points. As for Maplewood, their loss dropped their record down to 9-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Badger won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Windham at 5:15 p.m. on January 19th. Windham will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 594th, while Badger is ranked 265th). As for Maplewood, they will head out on the road to challenge Brookfield at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Brookfield is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
