Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Union City

Union City won the last time they faced Eisenhower and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Bears' pitcher stepped up to hand the Knights a 16-0 shutout. Considering the Bears have won seven matches by more than ten runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kaegann Gregor was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Alivia Zielinski was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Grace Chapman was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Union City was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory (which was Union City's third in a row) raised their record to 7-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Eisenhower, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Union City has already played their next game (against Seneca), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Eisenhower does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
