Baseball Recap: St. Joseph Wins Going Away Against Bridgeton

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Joseph). They put the hurt on the Bridgeton Bulldogs with a sharp 24-10 win on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Paul Spena was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Jack Cassidy was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-6.

Spena wasn't the only one making solid contact: St. Joseph kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matches.

St. Joseph pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Bridgeton, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Looking ahead, St. Joseph will venture away from home to square off against Egg Harbor Township at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bridgeton, they will host LEAP Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
