Basketball Recap: Friday's Loss Ends Patrick Henry Academy's Winning Streak

Patrick Henry Academy lost against Hilton Head Prep back in November of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Patrick Henry Academy Patriots received a blow as they fell 57-43 to the Hilton Head Prep Dolphins. The Patriots' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, Patrick Henry Academy still got an impressive performance from Lillian Lucas, who went 10 for 21 on her way to 25 points and eight rebounds. Lucas' evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Laney Futch was another key player, putting up five points and 14 boards.

Even though they lost, Patrick Henry Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in six consecutive matchups.

Hilton Head Prep's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooke Heins, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten steals. Those 19 points gave Heins a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Courtney Campbell, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 assists.

Patrick Henry Academy's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 9-5. As for Hilton Head Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Patrick Henry Academy will welcome Hilton Head Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Hilton Head Prep, they and St. Andrew's will face off at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played.
