After flying high against the Lake Region Christian Hornets on Friday, Chisago Lakes Baptist came back down to earth. Chisago Lakes Baptist took a 41-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of First Baptist on Monday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Chisago Lakes Baptist has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Chisago Lakes Baptist saw an underclassman step up: Mariah Cave scored seven points along with 19 rebounds and four blocks. Those 19 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her.
Even though they lost, Chisago Lakes Baptist were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
First Baptist's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lydia Wynja led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Wynja has scored at least 25% of First Baptist's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Wynja, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds and three blocks.
Chisago Lakes Baptist's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for First Baptist, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chisago Lakes Baptist won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Cambridge Christian at 5:30 p.m. on December 19th. First Baptist will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Chisago Lakes Baptist at 6:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024.
