Basketball Recap: Aliyah Croll Key Part of a Team Effort in Firebirds Win

It may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but Southern Nash ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They managed a 50-46 win over the Northern Nash Knights. The Firebirds have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Knights, too.

Southern Nash got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Aliyah Croll out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 boards. The dominant performance also gave Croll a new career-high in assists (two). Hailey Knight was another key player, putting up seven points along with seven rebounds and five steals.

Southern Nash was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Southern Nash pushed their record up to 6-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.8 points per game. As for Northern Nash, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Southern Nash wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 75-67 defeat against Wilson Prep on the 18th. As for Northern Nash, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 42-32 victory against Bunn on the 28th.
